Mr. Hite and his family attended the Church for several years. He worked for the Pembroke Telephone Company and was the football coach at Bryan County High School. His funeral will be held on Sunday, September 8th, at 3:00 pm in Millen, Georgia at the Millen Baptist Church.

The Church has a cross dedicated to Mr. Hite’s father, Joseph Hite, just above the glass doors at the entrance of the sanctuary, as shown in this picture.

Church parsonage burns On Saturday night on April 9th, 2011, the Church parsonage caught fire and burned. In a bizarre coincidence, I had just found the following news article a few hours earlier that day while researching the Church history in the newspaper archives at the University of Georgia in preparation for the upcoming web site relaunch at the end of the month. This article, from the October 29, 1964 issue of the old Pembroke Journal newspaper, described the dedication ceremony that was held for the parsonage at its opening.
